Kim Whanki, Seundja Rhee, Seung-taek Lee, Lee Ufan, Kwak Duck-Jun, Park Hyunki, Lee Kun-Yong, Lee Kang So, and Sung Neung Kyung’s works are featured in the exhibition MMCA Collection: Korean Modern and Contemporary Art II at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon. Following MMCA Collection: Korean Modern and Contemporary Art I, this exhibition introduces works by over 70 artists and offers an overview of Korean modern and contemporary art history which underwent changes during the turbulent periods of industrialization and democratization after the Korean War. It is organized into eleven sections, including ‘Artist’s Room’ which delves into Kim Whanki’s oeuvre across different periods and presents his iconic works such as his early work, Rondo (1938), Mountain and Moon (1958) from his Paris period, and Dawn #3 (1964-1965) from his New York period. The ‘Action, Object, Concept: Korean Experimental Art’ section introduces Seung-taek Lee, Kwak Duck-Jun, Park Hyunki, Lee Kun-Yong, Lee Kang So, and Sung Neung Kyung as key artists and showcases their diverse works.

김환기, 이성자, 이승택, 이우환, 곽덕준, 박현기, 이건용, 이강소, 성능경의  작품이 국립현대미술관 과천의 상설전 《한국근현대미술 II》에 소개되고 있다. 지난 《한국근현대미술 I》에 이어 이번 전시는 작가 70여 명의 작품을 통해 한국전쟁 이후 산업화와 민주화 등 격동의 시기를 거치며 변화를 거듭해 온 한국근현대미술사를 살펴보는 자리이다. 《한국근현대미술 II》는 ‘작가의 방’을 비롯해 총 11개의 소주제로 구성된다. 특히, ‘작가의 방’에서는 김환기의 작품 세계를 시기별로 나누어 소개하여, 초기작 〈론도〉(1938), 파리 시기의 〈산월〉(1958), 뉴욕 시기의 〈새벽 #3〉(1964–1965)과 같은 대표작을 만나볼 수 있다. ‘행위, 사물, 개념: 전위미술의 실험들’ 섹션에서는 이승택, 곽덕준, 박현기, 이건용, 이강소, 성능경이  주요 작가로 소개되며 다양한 작품을 선보인다.
