Ayoung Kim will participate in MACHINE LOVE: Video Game, AI and Contemporary Art at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, an exhibition introducing contemporary art that employ game engines, generative AI, and virtual reality (undefinedVR). Kim presents Delivery Dancer’s Sphere (2022), Evening Peak Time Is Back (2022), and Ghost Dancer B (2022), originally presented in her solo exhibition Syntax and Sorcery at Gallery Hyundai in 2022 alongside Delivery Dancer Simulation (2022). This exhibition explores a diverse artistic methodologies that reimagine aesthetics and image-making within digital spaces, where reality and the virtual space overlap. It functions as a platform to contemplate the relationship between humankind and technology, in order to envision better ways to live out an uncertain future. The exhibition runs through June 8.
Additionally, Ayoung Kim has been invited to present her first museum solo show in Germany Many Worlds Over at Hamburger Bahnhof—Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart. Kim will present a survey of works that span her artistic practice and recent works such as Delivery Dancer’s Arc: 0° Receiver. The exhibition will be on view from February 28 to July 20, 2025.
김아영 작가가 일본 도쿄에 위치한 모리미술관(Mori Art Museum)에서 열리는 기획전 《MACHINE LOVE: Video Game, AI and Contemporary Art》에 참여한다. 이번 전시에는 지난 2022년 갤러리현대 개인전 《문법과 마법》에서 선보였던, 작가를 대표하는 〈딜리버리 댄서의 구〉(2022), 〈다시 돌아온 저녁 피크 타임〉(2022), 〈고스트 댄서 B〉(2022)를 비롯하여 〈딜리버리 댄서 시뮬레이션〉(2022)과 게임 엔진, 생성형 인공지능(AI), 가상현실(VR) 등 최첨단 기술을 활용한 작품들이 폭넓게 소개된다. 현실과 가상 세계가 공존하는 디지털 공간에서 새로운 미학과 이미지를 변주하며 작업하는 작가들의 다양한 방법론을 중심으로, 인간과 기술의 관계를 성찰하며 불확실한 미래를 살아갈 더 나은 방법을 모색하는 이 전시는 6월 8일까지 이어진다.
한편, 김아영 작가의 개인전 《Many Worlds Over》이 오는 2월 28일, 독일 베를린의 국립현대미술관 함부르거 반호프 미술관(Hamburger Bahnhof—Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart)에서 개최된다. 이번 전시는 작가의 독일 첫 미술관 개인전으로, 〈딜리버리 댄서의 선: 0°의 리시버〉(2024)를 포함한 주요 작품들이 전시될 예정이다.
