Lee Kang So has been awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, Bogwan, and Yang Jung Uk has been selected as the recipient of the Today’s Young Artist Award in the Fine Arts category, as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s 2025 Cultural and Arts Development Merit.
The Order of Cultural Merit is the highest honor bestowed by the Korean government, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of culture and the arts. Lee was acknowledged for “leading the experimental contemporary art movement in Korea through his activities with the 1970s avant-garde groups Shincheje and Korean Avant-Garde Association (AG), establishing a nationwide foundation for contemporary art, and contributing to the development and globalization of Korean art through the Paris Biennale and the Sydney Biennale.”
Yang Jung Uk, who received the Korea Artist Prize 2024 from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), was recognized for “his kinetic artworks that poetically express the everyday lives of those who endure with resilience through hardship and hope.” He was awarded the Today’s Young Artist Award, accompanied by a Minister's Award and prize money.
문화체육관광부의 ‘2025년 문화예술발전 유공자’에 이강소 작가가 ‘보관 문화훈장’을 수훈하고, ‘오늘의 젊은 예술가상’의 미술 부문에 양정욱 작가가 선정되었다.
문화훈장은 정부포상의 최고 훈격으로서, 문화예술 발전과 국민 문화 향상에 기여한 공적이 현저한 사람에게 수여하는 훈장이다. 이강소 작가는 “1970년대 현대미술 그룹 ‘신체제’, ‘한국아방가르드협회(AG)’ 활동을 통해 실험적인 현대미술 운동을 주도하며 전국적인 활동 기반을 마련하고, 파리비엔날레, 시드니비엔날레 전시를 통해 한국미술 발전과 세계화에 기여한” 공적을 인정받았다.
2024년 국립현대미술관 〈올해의 작가상〉을 수상한 양정욱은 “고난과 희망 사이에서 꿋꿋하게 살아가는 사람들의 일상을 예술적으로 표현한 키네틱 아트 작품으로 문화예술 발전에 기여함”을 인정 받아 ‘오늘의 젊은 예술가상’을 수상, 장관 표창과 상금을 수여 받았다.
