Works by Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho and Yang Jung Uk are currently on view in Our Paradise, a special exhibition commemorating the centennial of Culture Station Seoul 284. Anchored in the site-specific history of Seoul Station as both a point of departure and arrival, the exhibition brings together 21 artists (and collectives) whose diverse media practices explore the themes of happiness and utopia.
On view in the exhibition, Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho’s The Ways of Folding Space and Flying (2015) is a video installation that is central to their decade-long collaborative project News from Nowhere (2012–2022). The work reflects humanity’s creative desire to realize what seems impossible, while continually evoking deep reflections on existence and the future amid our uncertain and unstable times. Yang Jung Uk’s Fatigue Always Comes with Dreams (2013) is a sculptural work composed of analog materials such as plastic bottles, wood fragments, thread, and a motor. With an attentive and empathetic gaze, the piece captures overlooked moments in everyday life—particularly scenes of weary labor. The exhibition runs through July 27.
문경원 & 전준호, 양정욱의 작품이 문화역서울284의 개관 100주년 기념 기획전 《우리들의 낙원》에 소개되고 있다. 출발지이자 도착지라는 서울역이 지닌 장소성을 바탕으로, 작가 21인(팀)의 다양한 매체를 통해 시대를 관통하는 ‘행복’과 ‘이상향’을 탐구하는 전시이다.
전시에 소개된 문경원 & 전준호의 〈축지법과 비행술〉(2015)은 작가가 10년에 걸쳐 협업해 온 장기 프로젝트 〈미지에서 온 소식〉(2012–2022)의 핵심을 이루는 영상 설치 작품으로, 불가능해 보이는 것을 가능하게 만들고자 하는 인간의 창조적 욕망을 보여주는 동시에 불확신과 불안정이 만연한 동시대 속에서 존재와 미래에 대한 근본적인 사유를 끊임없이 환기한다. 양정욱의 〈피곤은 언제나 꿈과 함께〉 (2013) 는 플라스틱 페트병, 나뭇조각, 실, 모터 등의 아날로그 재료로 만들어진 조각 작업으로, 우리가 흔히 지나칠 법한 일상의 단면 중 고단한 노동의 풍경을 섬세하고 따뜻한 시선으로 포착한다. 전시는 오는 27일까지.
