Ayoung Kim, recipient of the 2025 LG Guggenheim Award, presents The Soft Geometry of Being, a special one-night-only program at the Guggenheim Museum’s Peter B. Lewis Theater on Tuesday, July 1. Tickets are available to the public through the Guggenheim Museum website.
Exploring the intersections of the virtual and the real, technology and art, this experimental artist talk brings Kim’s distinctive artistic language to life in real time. Digitally embodied figures from her recent works—most notably Ernst Mo and En Storm—appear on stage within the iconic theater designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Incorporating LG OLED technology, the performance creates an immersive environment that introduces new modes of sensorial experience.
As the first Korean artist to receive the LG Guggenheim Award, Ayoung Kim is set to unveil a newly commissioned performance at the upcoming Performa Biennial in November 2025. Simultaneously, she will present her first major solo exhibition in the United States at MoMA PS1. This landmark presentation will feature a carefully curated selection of her most representative works alongside recent pieces, offering a comprehensive view of her evolving practice. In addition, a new facade work, co-commissioned by M+ in Hong Kong and Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, will premiere at M+ in Hong Kong this October.

가상과 현실, 기술과 예술이 교차하는 경계에서 김아영 작가의 독자적인 작업 세계를 실시간으로 선보이는 실험적 프로그램이다. 작가의 대표작에 등장하는 인물인 에른스트 모(Ernst Mo)와 엔 스톰(En Storm)이 프랭크 로이드 라이트가 설계한 상징적 극장 무대 위에 구현되며, LG OLED 기술을 활용한 몰입형 연출을 통해 새로운 감각적 경험을 선사한다.
LG 구겐하임 어워드 역사상 최초의 한국인 수상자로 선정된 김아영 작가는 오는 11월 퍼포마 비엔날레에서 새로운 퍼포먼스 커미션을 공개할 예정이며, 동시에 뉴욕현대미술관 PS1에서 미국 내 첫 대규모 개인전을 개최한다. 작가의 작품 세계를 아우르는 주요 대표작과 함께 최근 공개된 신작들이 포괄적으로 선보일 예정이다. 또한, 10월에는 홍콩의 M+ 미술관과 호주 시드니 파워하우스 미술관의 공동 커미션으로 제작된 파사드 신작이 M+ 미술관에서 공개된다.
