Yun-Hee Toh, Seulgi Lee, and Sung Neung Kyung will be featured in the group exhibition UNBOXING PROJECT: Message at König Telegraphenamt in Berlin, Germany, running from March 20 to April 12. This exhibition brings together 22 artists from different generations, each presenting newly commissioned works inspired by pneumatic mail. Reflecting the theme, the artworks are presented in a scroll format housed within a cylindrical box.

Yun-Hee Toh’s Unknown Signal (2025) draws inspiration from enigmatic sounds and signals the artist encountered on television. Through abstract compositions, the work evokes an internal landscape while gesturing toward an elusive dialogue with the unknown. Seulgi Lee’s Murdoch’s Wooden Horse (2025) reflects on the venue’s history as the former Berlin Telegraph Office. The piece engages with the legacy of William Murdoch, the inventor of pneumatic mail, exploring the evolution of communication and technology across time. Sung Neung Kyung’s Reading Newspapers 12.3 (2025) uses a December 3, 2024, newspaper reporting the declaration of martial law, incorporating it into the artist’s long-standing series that has fused newspapers, photograph, and performance since the 1970s.

도윤희, 이슬기, 성능경이 독일 베를린 쾨니히 텔레그람픔암트에서 3월 20일부터 4월 12일까지 열리는 뉴스프링스프로젝트 그룹전 《UNBOXING PROJECT: Message》에 참여한다. 이번 전시는 다양한 세대를 아우르는 22인의 작가가 공압 우편에 영감을 받아 원통형 박스와 두루마리 족자 형식에 맞춰 제작한 커미션 신작을 선보인다. 

도윤희의 〈Unknown Signal〉(2025)은 TV에서 우연히 접한 정체불명의 소리와 신호에서 영감을 받은 작품으로 작가 내면의 풍경을 캔버스 위에 추상으로 표현하며 미지의 대상과의 소통을 암시한다. 이슬기의 〈Murdoch’s Wooden Horse〉(2025)는 전시 공간이 과거 공압 우편의 중심지이자 구 베를린 전신국이었던 것에서 시작해 공압 우편을 발명한 윌리엄 머독과 소통하며 과거, 현재, 미래를 잇는다. 성능경의 〈신문읽기 12.3〉(2025)는 1970년대부터 지속해 온 신문, 사진, 행위가 융합된 퍼포먼스이자 작가의 아이콘과 같은 연작 작품이다. 이번 작품은 2024년 12월 3일 비상계엄 선포 내용이 담긴 신문으로 작품화했다.
