Ayoung Kim’s solo exhibition ACC Future Prize 2024: Ayoung Kim is currently on view at the National Asian Culture Center's Creation Hall 1. As the inaugural winner of the prize, Ayoung Kim premiered Delivery Dancer's Arc: Inverse (2024), a major commission that has garnered significant global attention.
This monumental three-channel video installation features three 11-meter-wide screens arranged in a triangular formation, accompanied by two-channel sound, lighting installations, sundial sculptures, graphic sheets, and constellationㅡmoving image installations. The work draws attention to traditional temporalities and worldviews erased by Western modernism through the standardization of the Gregorian calendar. Set in the alternate universe Novaria, the film follows Kim’s recurring protagonists on a mission to deliver lost artifacts. The exhibition runs through February 16.
Furthermore, Ayoung Kim will present her recent works in a major solo exhibition Many Worlds Over at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin from February 28 to July 20 and in MACHINE LOVE: Video Game, AI and Contemporary Art at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, from February 13 to June 8.
제1회 ‘ACC 미래상’을 수상한 김아영의 개인전 《ACC 미래상 2024: 김아영》이 국립아시아문화전당 복합전시 1관에서 열리고 있다. 이번 전시에서 김아영은 ACC의 지원을 받아 제작한 신작 〈딜리버리 댄서의 선: 인버스〉 (2024)를 세계 최초로 공개하며 다시 한번 전 세계 미술계의 이목을 집중시켰다.
가로 11m 크기의 대형 스크린 3개를 삼각형 구조로 잇대어 공중에 설치한 3채널 영상, 2채널 사운드, 시차를 두고 자동으로 켜지는 조명 설치, 스크린 양옆에 배치된 고대 해시계 조형물, 그래픽 시트와 별자리 다이어그램 등으로 구성된 대규모 신작은 서구 근대주의가 표준화한 그레고리력에 의해 사라진 전통적인 시간 개념과 세계관을 재조명한다. 영상 작품은 먼 미래의 가상 도시 ‘노바리아'를 배경으로 두 여성 배달 라이더들이 잃어버린 유물을 전달하는 임무를 수행하는 이야기를 담고 있다. 전시는 2월 16일까지.
또한, 2월 28일부터 7월 20일까지 베를린의 함부르크 반호프 미술관에서 대규모 개인전 《Many Worlds Over》과 도쿄 모리 미술관에서 2월 13일부터 6월 8일까지 개최하는 기획전 《MACHINE LOVE: Video Game, AI and Contemporary Art》에서 작품을 선보일 예정이다.
