Gallery Hyundai is releasing a limited edition of 500 prints to celebrate Kim Tschang-Yeul’s ongoing exhibition, Beyond Iridescence. Since his first water drop painting, showcased at the Salon de Mai in 1972, Kim had spent 50 years exploring “water drop” motif as his primary formal language. In 1976, Gallery Hyundai hosted a solo exhibition for Kim Tschang-Yeul, who was then active in Paris, France, introducing his water drop artworks in Korea for the first time. From then on, Kim had maintained an enduring relationship with Gallery Hyundai, holding 15 solo exhibitions at the gallery.

The print, based on Kim’s artwork Water Drops P.A.83029 (1983), features luminous water drops placed on canvas, highlighting the formative interplay of water drops and the surrounding negative space. Produced to commemorate the third anniversary of Kim’s passing, the print is available for purchase at Gallery Hyundai.

갤러리현대는 김창열 화백의 전시 《영롱함을 넘어서》를 기념하여 500개 한정판 판화를 발매한다. 1972년 살롱 드 메(Salon de Mai)에 출품한 첫 물방울 작품 이후로, 김 화백은 50년간 물방울이라는 한 가지 소재를 조형 언어로 탐구해 왔다. 1976년, 갤러리현대는 프랑스 파리에서 활약 중이셨던 김창열 화백을 모시고 초대전을 개최하며 그의 물방울 작품을 처음으로 국내에 소개했다. 이후 김 화백은 갤러리현대와 15번의 개인전을 개최하며 깊은 인연을 이어왔다. 

캔버스 위에 빛을 품은 영롱한 물방울이 놓여 있는 1983년 작품 <물방울 P.A.83029>을 원본으로 하는 이 판화는 물방울과 여백의 관계와 그 조형성이 돋보인다. 김 화백의 작고 3주기 전시를 기념하며 제작된 판화는 갤러리현대 전시장 현장에서 구매할 수 있다.
