Kang Seung Lee is participating in Queer Threads at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles in Los Angeles, USA. The exhibition features 38 works by 37 artists across the United States, and introduces a wide range of works created using threads and yarns, such as crochet, embroidery, quilting, and weaving, as well as works employing various media including animation, clay, metal, photography, and more. In addition, the displayed works examine the nuances of gender roles, feminism, cross-cultural intersections, and tactile experiences within the scope of American crafts and fiber arts from 1972 to the present through the lens of queer history. The exhibition encourages diversity and experimental approaches to fiber arts by moving away from the conventional viewpoint centered around closed binaries of art and craft, male and female, gay and straight, and beyond. The exhibition runs until August 20.   

이강승 작가가 미국 로스앤젤레스 산호세 퀄트 및 직물 박물관에서 개최하는 《Queer Threads》에 참여한다. 미국 각지에서 활동하는 작가 37명의 작품 38점을 소개하는 이번 전시에서는 크로셰, 자수, 퀼트, 직조 공예와 같이 실과 실의 짜임을 사용하여 만들어진 작품들과 애니메이션, 도예, 금속, 사진 등의 매체를 취하는 다양한 작업들이 소개된다. 또한 전시작들은 1972년부터 현재까지 미국 공예와 섬유 예술의 범위 내에서 성 역할, 페미니즘, 문화적 교류와 촉각적 경험 등에 내제된 뉘앙스를 퀴어 역사의 관점에서 되짚어본다. 순수미술과 공예, 남성과 여성, 동성애와 이성애 등 이분법적인 닫힌 사고에서 벗어서 다양성을 추구하고 섬유 예술에의 실험적인 접근을 장려하는 이번 전시는 8월 20일까지 계속된다.
