Moon Kyungwon’s new work is displayed at Cloud Walkers at LEEUM. Participating as “walkers,” “activists” and “dreamers,” participating Asian artists in various fields suggest a new sociocultural environment of the 21st century. Moon presents Promise Park_Yongsan: Playscape and 7 Playscape: Atlas, Trauma, Utopia, Paradox, Pattern, Particle, Code – new works from her ongoing project “Promise Park.”
“Promise Park” is a platform of collective intelligence that explores urban history and promotes solidarity. The previous works from this series include: Promise Park, collaborated with Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM) from 2013 to 2016, Promise Park Gwangju shown at the 13th Gwangju Biennale and Promise Park Seoul shown at Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2021.
The artist visualizes the history and cityscape of Yongsan, Seoul, through the formal patterns of weaving, architectural structure, diagrams, etc. Moon’s work symbolizes the abstraction of geological change or historical landscape while at the same time “patterning” history that endlessly repeats and circulates in a cycle. The exhibition lasts until Jan. 8, 2023.
문경원 작가가 리움미술관의 기획전 《구름산책자》전에 참여 중이다. 전시에는 다양한 분야의 아시아 예술가가 참여해, '산책자', '실천가', '공상가'로서 무한한 상상을 펼치며 제시한 21세기의 새로운 사회문화적 환경을 경험케 한다. 문경원은 <프라미스파크> 프로젝트의 신작 <프라미스파크_용산: 플레이스케이프>와 <7 플레이스케이프: 아틀라스, 트라우마, 유토피아, 패라독스, 패턴, 파티클, 코드>를 선보인다.
<프라미스파크>는 집단 지성의 플랫폼으로 도시 역사를 풀어내고 여럿의 연대를 도모하는 시리즈 작업이다. 2013년부터 2016년까지 야마구치아트앤미디어센터(YCAM)와의 협업으로 처음 공개된 <프라미스파크>, 제13회 광주비엔날레 출품작 <프라미스파크 광주>, 2021 서울도시건축비엔날레의 <프라미스파크 서울>로 이어졌다.
작가는 서울의 용산이라는 장소가 품은 역사와 풍경을 직조하는 ‘패턴’이라는 형식과 건축적 구조물, 다이어그램 등으로 가시화 한다. 이는 지형의 변화 혹은 역사적 풍경을 추상화 시키는 일이며 끝없이 반복되고 순환되는 역사를 패턴화하는 작업이기도 하다. 전시는 2023년 1월 8일까지.
