Works by Ayoung Kim, Kang Seung Lee, Woosung Lee, and Candice Lin are currently on view in Spectrosynthesis Seoul at Art Sonje Center through June 28. The term “Spectrosynthesis” combines “spectrum,” which signifies diversity, and “synthesis,” which refers to the process of bringing ideas and materials together. Spectrosynthesis Seoul presents works of approximately 74 queer artists who have pursued avant-garde practices across and beyond institutional boundaries, tracing the landscape of queer art shaped within the political, social, and technological transformations of Korean society. Organized in collaboration with the Sunpride Foundation, established to support LGBTQ+ communities, the exhibition also features works from the foundation’s collection.

Meanwhile, the works featured in Woosung Lee’s solo exhibition Will There Be an Answer? at Gallery Hyundai, along with the artist’s piece Like Wind and Wter: Gathering Without Staying (2026) installed near the the entrance of Spectrosynthesis Seoul, were produced during the same period, offering an opportunity to experience the artist’s diverse practice across both exhibitions.

김아영, 이강승, 이우성, 캔디스 린의 작품이 아트선재센터에서 6월 28일까지 열리고 있는 《스펙트로신테시스 서울》에 소개되고 있다. ‘스펙트로신테시스’는 다양성을 의미하는 ‘스펙트럼(spectrum)’과 아이디어와 사물을 합성하는 과정을 뜻하는 ‘신테시스(synthesis)’가 결합된 언어이다. 전시 《스펙트로신테시스 서울》은 제도의 경계를 넘나들며 전위적 실천을 이어온 퀴어 작가 74여명의 작업을 선보이며, 한국 사회의 정치·사회·기술적 변화 속에서 형성된 퀴어 미술의 지형을 추적한다. LGBTQ+를 지원하기 위해 설립된 선프라이드재단과 협력으로 열리는 이번 전시에는, 재단의 소장작 또한 함께 소개된다. 

한편, 이우성의 갤러리현대 개인전 《너에게 물으면 알 수 있을까?》에 소개되는 작품들과 《스펙트로신테시스 서울》의 입구 초입에 작가의 작업 <바람이 되고 물이 되어 그곳에 닿을 때까지>(2026)는 같은 시기에 제작된 작업으로, 두 전시를 통해 작가의 다채로운 세계를 경험할 수 있다.
