Lee Ufan 이우환: Fragments of Infinity

Lee Ufan's first major exhibition in Portugal, Fragments of Infinity, is on view at Serralves Villa and Park, through March 7, 2027. The exhibition is organized by the Serralves Foundation — Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, curated by Philippe Vergne and coordinated by Giovana Gabriel. Exploring the interplay between nature, architecture, objects, and landscape, the exhibition features his masterpieces and a new, site-specific work.
Three sculptures from the artist's Relatum series are installed in Serralves Park, capturing direct encounters between stone, steel, and the environment, along with three additional sculptures on view inside the Villa that reveal the tension between materials and their contexts. The exhibition also features a total of six paintings, including Space of Response—the artist's new work specially created for the Villa—and the Response series, inspired by the artist's meditative practice.
이우환의 포르투갈 첫 대규모 개인전 《Fragments of Infinity》가 포르투에 위치한 세랄베스 저택 및 공원에서 2027년 3월 7일까지 열리고 있다. 이번 전시는 세랄베스 재단 현대미술관의 주최로, 필립 베르뉴의 큐레이션과 지오바나 가브리엘의 코디네이션으로 진행된다. 자연과 건축, 사물과 풍경 사이의 상호작용을 탐구하는 이번 전시는 이우환의 대표작들과 신작으로 구성된다.
작가의 〈관계항(Relatum)〉연작 중 세 점의 조각이 세랄베스 공원에, 나머지 세 점이 저택 내부에 소개된다. 야외에 놓인 세 조각은 돌과 철판, 그리고 주변 환경이 이루는 만남을 포착하는 한편, 저택 내부에 설치된 세 점은 사물과 닫힌 공간 사이에 흐르는 긴장감을 드러낸다. 이와 함께 이번 전시에서는 저택을 위해 특별히 제작된 신작 〈Space of Response〉를 비롯하여, 작가의 명상적 실천에서 영감을 얻은 〈Response〉연작 등 총 여섯 점의 회화 작품도 함께 선보인다.
