Park Hyunki and Seulgi Lee will participate in the group exhibition Bridging the Unseen, on view from April 30 to July 5, 2025, at the Wooran Foundation. Featuring six artists, the exhibition explores boundaries as spaces where new order and relationships emerge, investigating the creative potential that lies between tradition and the contemporary, craft and art, and the material and immaterial.

Park Hyunki’s Untitled (1988), the largest work in his “TV Stone Tower” series, reflects the technological and cultural shifts of the time—when remote controls became commonplace, television exteriors became thinner, and CRT screens grew larger. The piece marks a pivotal point in the artist’s evolving practice, in which TV towers gradually took on the spatial and symbolic presence of shrines. Seulgi Lee’s BIANE Hanging Board Project (2024) began with her curiosity about the signboard atop Daehanmun Gate at Deoksugung Palace. Choosing wood as her medium, the artist speculates on what primordial language might have sounded like. She humorously carves onomatopoeic and mimetic words—such as kkoung kkoung (“boom-boom”), tchoul tchoul (“peckish”), and seureureuk (“sliding sound”)—into wooden planks, transforming the connection between sound and form into playful visual symbols.

박현기, 이슬기가 4월 30일부터 7월 5일까지 우란문화재단에서 열리는 그룹전 《이어지는 사이》에 참여한다. 전시는 경계를 새로운 질서와 관계가 형성되는 공간으로 바라보며, 전통과 현대, 공예와 예술, 물질과 비물질의 경계에서 창조적 가능성을 탐색하는 작가 6인의 작품을 선보인다.

박현기의 〈무제〉(1988)는 ‘TV 돌탑’ 중 가장 거대한 규모를 가진 작품으로, 리모컨이 등장하자 텔레비전 외피가 얇아지고 브라운관 화면의 크기가 커진 대형 TV가 보급되던 시대 상황을 반영한다. 이는 점차 신전(神殿)화된 공간 설치 작업으로 발전해 간 ‘TV 돌탑’의 변화 양상을 상징적으로 드러낸다. 이슬기의 〈현판프로젝트〉(2024)는 작가가 덕수궁 대한문 현판에 의문을 가지고 나무를 재료로 선택하여 태초의 단어가 무엇일지 탐구한 작품이다. ‘쿵쿵’, ‘출출’, ‘스르륵’ 등 도안화된 의성어나 의태어를 나무 널빤지 위에 새겨 단어의 의미와 외형의 연결고리를 해학적으로 형상화했다.
