The exhibition catalogue for Shared Destinies, John Pai's solo exhibition at Gallery Hyundai, is now published.
Shared Destinies (2024) marked John Pai (b. 1937)’s first solo exhibition in Korea in over a decade following In Memory’s Lair (2013) at Gallery Hyundai, presenting a comprehensive journey through the artist’s seventy-year-long career. Starting with early steel sculptures inspired by Constructivism that the artist created in the beginning of the 1960s, the exhibition introduced around forty works comprising welded steel sculptures, drawings, and paintings that represent each era of Pai’s oeuvre. The catalogue starts with a preface by HyungTeh Do, the owner and CEO of Gallery Hyundai, followed by Yeon Shim Chung’s essay, John Pai: Welding and Sculpting Fluid Steel, an artist's note, an interview conducted by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, and visual plates of both exhibited and selected non-exhibited works, along with installation views of the exhibition. The catalogue also includes a comprehensive chronology of John Pai's life, major exhibitions, and iconic works, offering a rich and immersive collection.

존 배 작가의 개인전 《운명의 조우》를 기념한 도록이 발간되었다.
《운명의 조우》는 2013년 갤러리현대에서 열린 존 배의 전시 《기억의 은신처》 이후 10여 년 만에 열리는 국내 개인전으로, 작가의 70여 년의 예술 여정을 집약적으로 선보이는 자리였다. 1960년대 초반 구축주의에 영향을 받아 제작한 초기 강철 조각을 비롯하여 연대기별로 주요 철사 조각, 드로잉과 회화까지, 작가의 작품 세계 전반을 아우를 수 있는 작품 40여 점을 선별하여 소개했다. 도록에는 갤러리현대 도형태 부회장의 추천사를 시작으로, 미술사학자 정연심의 에세이 「존 배: 유동(流動)하는 철 조각」, 작가 노트, 영화감독 대런 애로노프스키와의 인터뷰 그리고 전시 출품작부터 일부 미출품작과 전시 전경 화보가 수록되었다. 존 배 작가가 참여한 주요 전시와 대표 작품 화보, 생애를 정리한 연보도 함께 실려 풍성한 볼거리를 제공한다.
