The works of Korean abstract painting masters Kim Tschang-Yeul, Suh Se Ok, Lee Ufan and Chung Sang-Hwa are currently on view at the collection exhibition, I’m fine, and you? at Seoul Museum. This large-scale collection exhibition features masterpieces by 15 notable figures in Korean art history, including Shin Saimdang, Lee Jung-Seob, Kim Whanki, Chang Ucchin and Yim Jik Soon. The exhibition also presents personal letters, essays, and reflections, offering a multifaceted exploration of their creative works and the personal dimensions of their lives.
Kim Tschang-Yeul’s Recurrence, Kim Whanki’s Hundred Thousand Dots, Suh Se Ok’s People, Chung Sang Hwa’s Untitled series are installed on a single wall, delivering an overwhelming impact to the audience. Lee Ufan’s Dialogue, symbolizing the harmony of yin and yang, sky and earth through striking contrasts of space and vibrant red and blue hues, is displayed in a special “Infinite Space,” designed to offer a meditative experience. The exhibition runs until June 1, 2025.
추상회화의 대가 김창열, 서세옥, 이우환, 정상화의 작품을 서울미술관 소장품전 《나는 잘 지내고 있습니다》에서 만나볼 수 있다. 신사임당을 시작으로 이중섭, 김환기, 장욱진, 임직순 등 한국 미술사를 대표하는 15인의 명작을 망라하는 대규모 소장품 전시이다. 작품뿐만 아니라 작가들이 직접 쓴 편지와 글을 함께 소개하며 작품과 더불어 예술가의 인간적인 면모까지 다각적으로 고찰한다.
김창열 〈회귀〉, 김환기 〈십만 개의 점〉, 서세옥 〈사람들〉, 정상화의 〈무제〉 연작이 한 벽면에 설치되어 관람자에게 압도적인 울림을 선사한다. 두드러지는 여백과 붉은색과 파란색의 강렬한 색채 대비를 통해 음과 양, 하늘과 땅을 암시하는 이우환의 〈대화〉는 명상하듯 감상할 수 있도록 특별히 마련된 ‘무한의 공간’으로 이름 붙여진 특별 공간에서 만나볼 수 있다. 전시는 6월 1일까지.
