A major survey of Kenny Scharf is held at the Brant Foundation until February 28, 2025. During the East Village’s vibrant interdisciplinary art scene of the 1980s, Kenny Scharf, alongside peers such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, pioneered the street-art movement. His use of comic book figures and pop culture icons to create surreal and psychedelic scenes has become his unique artistic language.
The exhibition features over 70 paintings, sculptures, and objects, beginning with works from the late 1970s, offering a comprehensive look at the artist's expansive body of work. Along with the pieces from the Brant Foundation’s collection, the exhibition includes loans from major institutions and private collections, including The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and The Broad in Los Angeles, presenting a diverse range of the artist’s oeuvre.
