Seulgi Lee’s major series, The Blanket Project U, is currently featured in SeMA Omnibus: At the End of the World Split Endlessly, a large-scale exhibition centered on the museum’s collections, currently on view at the Seoul Museum of Art, Seosomun Main Branch, until November 17, 2024.

At the End of the World Split Endlessly delves into the intricate, layered, and recursive dimensions of contemporary art and media, examining how artists select, reinterpret, and repurpose their use of media in response to climate change and the capitalist crisis while reflecting on the evolving media landscape of our time. Lee’s the Blanket Project U series offers a distinctive sculptural language that reflects contemporaneity, employing diverse materials to evoke folkloric elements. Two key works from the series—U: A Rat Pretending to be Dead = To Stay Really Calm (2020) and U: Look Foward to Something as if One were a Crane Stretching out its Neck (2023) are featured in the exhibition.

In addition, Seulgi Lee will present a special performance titled SOUPE (2024) at the 17th Lyon Biennale, which runs until January 5, 2025. This interactive performance, scheduled for November 8 and December 13, 2024, invites audiences to engage in a unique culinary experience, sharing a soup inspired by the color of a Lyon sunset.
 

이슬기 작가의 주요 연작인 〈이불프로젝트 : U〉를 서울시립미술관 서소문 본관에서 펼쳐지는 대규모 소장품 기획전 SeMA 옴니버스 《끝없이 갈라지는 세계의 끝에서》 전에서 11월 17일까지 만나볼 수 있다.

《끝없이 갈라지는 세계의 끝에서》는 기후변화와 자본주의의 위기 속 예술가들이 매체를 선택하고 갱신하는 과정과 이를 통해 탄생한 우리 시대의 매체/미디어 풍경을 살피고, 동시대 미술과 매체 사이의 복합적, 중층적, 재귀적 측면을 탐구하는 전시이다. 다양한 소재를 사용해 민속적인 요소를 상기시키고 동시에 현대성을 반영한 독창적인 조형 언어를 선보이는 이슬기의 대표적인 연작 〈이불프로젝트 : U〉의 두 작품인 〈U : 쥐 죽은 듯〉(2020)과 〈U : 학수고대〉(2023)가 소개된다.

이슬기는 내년 1월 5일까지 개최하는 제17회 리옹 비엔날레에 초대되어 11월 8일과 12월 13일에 관객과 함께 리옹의 노을을 담은 수프를 나눠 먹는 퍼포먼스 작업 〈SOUPE〉(2024)를 선보일 예정이다.
