A pioneer of Korean experimental art, Seung-taek Lee’s most representative performances will be reenacted at Pungnap Fortress and Pungnab 1-dong area in Songpa District, Seoul. This is part of the Seoul Museum of Art’s Open-Air Museum_Pungnap, which transforms the earthen mounds and excavation sites within the fortress into exhibition venues, allowing viewers to experience the nonlinear temporality of the past and present, as well as the site-specific nature of “reappearance.”

For this exhibition, Seung-taek Lee’s Wind-Folk Amusement (1971) and Earth Performance (1994) have been re-created under the new titles Wind, Let’s Play and Earth, Let's Play, and will be reenacted with audience participation. Wind-Folk Amusement visualizes the wind using red fabric, while Earth Performance wittily addresses environmental and ecological issues by rolling and pushing a rubber balloon painted with a realistic representation of the Earth.

The performance will take place on Saturday, October 5, and Saturday, October 12. Wind, Let’s Play will start at 2:30 pm at the Pungnap Social Welfare Center and Earth, Let's Play at 2:50 pm and 3:30 pm in two sessions at Pungnap Daycare Center.

한국 실험미술의 선구자 이승택의 대표적인 퍼포먼스 작업이 서울 송파구 풍납 토성과 풍납 1동 일대에서 재연된다. 토성과 유구 발굴 예정지를 전시의 무대로 삼아, 과거와 현재의 비선형적인 시간성과 ‘재출몰’이라는 장소 특정성을 경험하게 하는 서울시립 북서울미술관의 기획전인 《오픈 에어 뮤지엄_풍납토성》의 일환이다. 

이번 전시에서 이승택의 〈바람 민속놀이〉(1971)와 〈지구놀이〉(1994)가 〈바람아 놀자〉, 〈지구야 놀자〉라는 새로운 이름으로 재제작되어 관객과 함께 재연된다. 작가의 〈바람 민속놀이〉는 붉은 천을 통해 바람을 시각화하고, 〈지구놀이〉는 고무풍선에 유화 물감으로 사실적으로 그린 지구를 굴리고 밀고 나가며 환경과 생태주의에 관한 문제를 유쾌하게 풀어내는 작업이다. 

퍼포먼스 재연은 10월 5일(토)과 10월 12일(토)에 진행되며, 〈바람아 놀자〉는 14:30부터 풍납종합사회복지관에서, 〈지구야 놀자〉는 14:50과 15:30에 두 타임으로 풍납어린이집에서 펼쳐질 예정이다.
