Sarah Morris's retrospective exhibition All Systems Fail is currently on view at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, Switzerland until August 4, 2024. The exhibition features over a hundred works, including paintings, drawings, film posters, and immersive film installations spanning the artist's practice over three decades. Sarah Morris has been exploring themes such as networks, corporations, systems, economies, and architecture, blending reality and abstraction to create a new language of place and politics. The exhibition title, "All Systems Fail," alludes to contemporary cultural pessimism, political and social failures, rapid societal changes, and future anxieties. Through her paintings and films, Morris reflects on these systems, exploring the dynamics of cities and their hierarchies. All Systems Fail opened for the first time at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Germany, in 2023, then at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld, Germany and more. The retrospective will travel to the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Germany, in September 2024.
사라 모리스의 대규모 회고전 《All Systems Fail》이 스위스 베른에 위치한 파울 클레 미술관에서 8월 4일까지 열린다. 이번 전시는 회화, 드로잉, 영화 포스터 등 지난 30여 년 간의 독창적인 작업 세계를 아우르는 작품 100여 점이 소개된다. 작가는 네트워크, 기업, 시스템, 경제, 건축 등의 주제를 탐구하며 현실과 추상을 결합하여 새로운 장소와 정치의 언어를 창조해 왔다. 전시 제목은 현대의 문화적 비관주의와 정치적, 사회적 문제, 급격한 사회 변화와 미래에 대한 불안을 암시한다. 작가는 회화와 영상을 통해 이러한 시스템을 작품에 반영하여 도시의 역동적인 본질과 그 안의 위계를 탐구한다. 본 전시는 작년 함부르크 다이히토어할렌 미술관에서 시작으로 독일 쿤스트무제엔 크레펠드 등에서도 개최되었으며, 2024년 9월에는 독일 슈투트가르트 쿤스트 뮤지엄으로 순회할 예정이다.
