Gallery Hyundai is delighted to announce the official launching of Lee Kun-Yong’s collaboration with Dior, for the 8th edition of Lady Dior Art. This edition is now available at House of Dior, Seoul, as well as key Dior flagship stores worldwide.
Bodyscape series embedding Lee’s unique aesthetics and contemplation about the body, place, and relationship are meticulously reenacted on the Christian Dior‘s signature item, Lady Dior bag. These works include: ’76-1’ series for which the artist draws lines from behind the canvas; ’76-3’ series for which the artist stands next to the canvas and draws a half circle with his left and right arms, leaving a mark resembling a shape of heart; and ’76-3 Drawing’ series for which the artist incorporates various semiological images with his ‘76-3’ paintings. The shapes and textures of these works are realized in exquisite details with unexpected combinations of materials such as paint and velvet. Lady Dior inspired by ’76-3 Drawing’ series, in particular, displays a remarkable heart silhouette created with Dior-grey leather, crystal, and beads embroidery.
이건용 작가와 디올과의 협업으로 탄생한 디올 레이디 아트 컬렉션의 8번째 에디션이 청담동의 하우스 오브 디올을 비롯하여 전 세계 디올의 주요 매장에 공개되었다.
신체, 장소, 관계에 대한 이건용만의 독창적 미학과 사유의 정수가 담긴 연작 〈Bodyscape〉 중 화면 뒤에서 선을 그은 '76-1', 화면 옆에 서서 왼쪽과 오른쪽으로 방향을 바꿔 남긴 둥근 선의 조합이 ‘하트’를 연상시키는 '76-3', '76-3'의 회화 작품을 변주한 작업으로 다양한 기호적 이미지가 조화를 이루는 '76-3 Drawing' 이 디올의 시그니처 아이템인 레이디 디올 백에 정교하게 구현되었다. 텍스처와 릴리프가 어우러진 세 가지 백은 페인트와 벨벳 등 이례적인 소재를 조합하여 작품의 형태와 질감을 살렸으며, 특히 '76-3 Drawing'을 기반으로 제작된 백에는 디올 그레이 컬러의 가죽에 크리스탈과 자수 비즈로 섬세한 하트 실루엣을 연출했다.
