Art historian Haeyun Park’s lecture about Park Hyunki’s art world was made into a video. Park Hyunki is a pivotal and singular figure in the history of Korean Video Art. The video lecture offers a comprehensive insight into Park’s oeuvre beginning from Untitled (1978) up to Mandala (1997), along with archival photos and video materials centered on the theme of Water, Stone, Body: The Feedback between Matter, Man, and Moving Image in Park Hyunki’s Work.
"Park's appropriation of the traditional Korean aesthetics of ssak'i as a method of constructing a site-specific and temporary installation led to a series of vertical structures which emphasized the relation between organic matter and their virtual image as a critique of simulacra...Park's work continues to challenge us today to pierce through the opaque surface of images endlessly streaming from our screens by reconnecting with our own bodies and physical sensations in all its imperfections."
