Yang Jung Uk’s large-scale kinetic sculpture Fatigue Always Comes with a Dream (2013) is presented at My Your Memory at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. My Your Memory revolves around the keyword “memory”; this exhibition reflects on what standards should be applied and what should be considered and self-reflected on in life in this world filled with rapidly changing information and cognition. The artist was inspired by a guard at a night shift in pitch darkness; the subtle light seeping through wooden structures lightens up the space and arouses a dreamlike atmosphere. The work is shown as a part of “My Your Memory” among “Here and Now” “That Time, That Place”. The exhibition will be on display until August 7th.
양정욱 작가의 대형 키네틱 작품 <피곤은 언제나 꿈과 함께>가 국립현대미술관 서울관의 기획 전시 《나너의 기억》에서 소개되고 있다. 《나너의 기억》은 정보와 인식이 급변하는 시대에 무엇을 삶의 기준으로 삶을지, 주체적으로 판단하고 반성해야 하는 것이 무엇인지 ‘기억’이란 키워드를 통해 현재 우리의 위치를 감각하고 환기하는 전시다. <피곤은 언제나 꿈과 함께>는 작가가 편의점 아르바이트를 하며 깜깜한 밤 경비 초소에서 졸고 있는 경비원의 모습에 영감을 받아 제작된 작업으로, 나무 구조물 사이로 은은하게 퍼져 나오는 빛은 주변을 환하게 밝히며 공간을 꿈처럼 환상적으로 환기 시킨다. 작품은 전시의 ‘나너의 기억’ ‘지금, 여기’ ‘그때, 그곳’ 중 1부 ‘나너의 기억’에서 볼 수 있다. 전시는 8월 7일까지.
