An exhibition catalogue of Lee Kang-So’s solo exhibition From a Dream is published. From a Dream at Gallery Hyundai concentrates entirely on Lee’s paintings ranging from those created in 1999 to the most recent ones created in 2021. The newly published exhibition catalogue contains 38 plates of Lee Kang-So’s paintings drawn through the artist’s movements guided by the corporeal rhythm of a union between the brush and the body, essays written by art critics Heekyung Song and Lee Jinmyung, and lastly a selected chronology of the artist.
Two essays describe the artist’s paintings as the result of physical and spiritual practice, descended since the traditional Korean painting, and the artist’s process of seeking the truth. Invited Professor at Ewha Womans University Heekyung Song interprets Lee Kang-So’s worldview and the Serenity series as she focuses on the concept of ‘ShiShuHuaYilu (詩書畵一律)’ and the essence of stroke. Lee Jinmyung, a former chief curator at Daegu Art Museum, differentiates Lee’s works from the art history of Western painting, and approaches his art world from an Eastern philosophical perspective.
The catalogue provides an overview of the artist’s career and art world by including highlight exhibitions and other activities of the artist from 1969 to 2021 in a chronological chart and list.

이강소의 개인전 《몽유(夢遊, From a Dream)》를 기념한 도록이 발간됐다. 《몽유》는 1999년 작품부터 2021년의 근작까지 아우르며 작가의 회화만을 집중적으로 살펴본 전시다. 도록에는 작가 자신의 신체에서 우러나오는 리듬에 따라 붓과 한 몸이 되어 움직이고 만들어진 38점의 회화, 미술사학자 송희경과 이진명의 평론, 그리고 작가의 활동상을 담은 연보가 함께 실렸다.
두 편의 평론은 이강소의 회화를 한국의 전통 회화에서부터 이어온 육체적, 정신적 수련의 결과이자, 작가가 진리를 추구하는 과정으로 해석한다. 이화여자대학 초빙교수인 송희경은 이강소의 작품 전반과 <청명> 연작을 시서화일률의 문인화의 맥락에서 분석하고, 작품에 강조된 획의 근원적 의미를 살핀다. 전 대구미술관 학예실장인 이진명은 이강소의 회화를 서양의 회화와 명확히 구분하고 동양철학적 관점으로 접근한다.
