The group exhibition Lost: Everything that happened to me at Daejeon Museum of Art presents Yang Jung Uk's works You Said to the Side, I Said to the Left and Three Workmen I Came to Know Only in the Evening. The exhibition centers on experiences of loss we undergo throughout our lives.

In his works, Yang tells of everyday squabbles and observation of people he does not know. You Said to the Side, I Said to the Left depicts the scenery of a domestic tiff between two people while putting a frame to decorate their house. Giant hands painted on the wooden panels facing each other are juxtaposed with lights and sophisticated movements of objects within two circular structures reminding the viewers of the frame. The moving and glittering lights and papers on the floor further visualize the sentiment of the scene.

The work hree Workmen I Came to Know Only in the Evening tells a story of three men waiting for the same bus after a finishing their daily labor. The tranquil lights and subtle movements represent the faces of the people. The lights seem to whisper to each other as they quietly wait for the rain to stop.

양정욱 작가의 <당신은 옆이라고 말했고, 나는 왼쪽이라고 말했다>와 <저녁이 되서야 알게 된 3명의 동료들>이 대전시립미술관의 기획전 《상실, 나에게 일어난 모든 일》에서 선보인다. 《상실, 나에게 일어난 모든 일》은 우리가 삶을 살며 겪는 유·무형의 소멸과 상실을 주제로 삼은 전시다.

양정욱의 작품은 사소한 말다툼이나 낯선 이와의 만남에 관한 이야기를 담고 있다. <당신은 옆이라고 말했고, 나는 왼쪽이라고 말했다>는 집을 꾸미기 위해 액자를 걸던 두 사람이 말다툼하는 장면을 빛과 사물의 미세한 움직임으로 포착한다. 나무판에 그린 거대한 두 손이 서로를 마주 보고 있고, 액자의 프레임을 상기시키는 두 개의 원형 구조물에 매달린 사물들이 움직인다. 작품 아래 반짝이며 떨리는 불빛과 종이는 그 말다툼의 모습과 변화의 감정을 시각화한다.

<저녁이 되서야 알게 된 3명의 동료들>의 배경은 서로 모르는 세 사람이 일과를 끝내고 집에 돌아가기 위해 버스 정거장에 모인 이야기이다. 사람 얼굴을 떠올리는 불빛은 비를 피하는 세 사람의 모습을 은유하며 미묘하게 움직인다. 세 불빛은 서로 이야기를 속삭이거나 비를 피하려고 하는 듯 얼굴을 맞댄다.
