Iván Navarro recently participated in a private "zen dialogue" with Harper's BAZAAR Korea's art issue. The theme of the discussion centered on the artist's daydream and thoughts.

What are your favorite names?
I love my daughter's name, Sayen. It comes from the Mapuche indigenous community from the south of Chile. Sayen means sweetness and kindness in the Mapuche language Mapudungun. 

What is your greatest extravagance? 
I collect records (vinyl) and now I have a collection of 2.000 records. And, I also have a record label so I can fabricate records of the music I like. I have made 50 releases already on www.hueso-records.com 

Do you have a topic or style of work that you're particularly focused on lately? 
Yes I am working with star charts and constellations. I am interested in how we try to understand the universe or what we can see from the sky. I am fascinated why humans love to make maps about everything.

가장 좋아하는 이름은 무엇인가?
사옌(Sayen). 딸의 이름이다. 칠레 남부 지방 원주민인 마푸체(mapuche)족의 언어에서 따왔다. 의미는 달콤함 그리고 친절함.

사적인 사치라고 할만한 것은?
바이닐을 수집한다. 이제까지 2천 장 정도를 모았고 ‘우에소 레코드(www.hueso-records.com)’라는 레이블을 가지고 있다. 내가 좋아하는 음반을 레코드로 제작할 수 있도록 말이다. 벌써 50장의 앨범을 발매했다.

최근 특별히 관심이 가는 주제가 있나?
별자리를 가지고 작업 중이다. 인간이 우주를 이해하려는 방법이나 하늘에서 볼 수 있는 것들에 매료돼 있다.
