Christine Sun Kim’s major survey exhibition Christine Sun Kim: All Day All Night is on view at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, August 30. Co-organized with the Whitney Museum of American Art, where it first premiered in winter 2025, this exhibition brings together over 100 works produced between 2011 and 2026, offering the most comprehensive presentation of the artist’s practice to date.
Working across drawing, video, sculpture, installation, and large-scale murals, Kim examines how sound operates in society, addressing its function, its physical experience, and its central role in shaping communication and broader social structures. Her practice considers the complexities of communication while foregrounding the political dimensions of sound. Through the use of American Sign Language (ASL), musical notation, written language, infographics, and the body, Kim develops a distinct visual language that translates the structures of signing into graphic and spatial form.
The exhibition introduces the artist’s concerns, including the politics of language, the intricacies of identity, and how we experience and perceive social encounters and environments. These themes are explored across time and media, from early performance documentation to recent site-responsive murals and installations. At the Walker Art Center, the exhibition unfolds in a loosely chronological structure while emphasizing Kim’s sustained engagement with communication as both a social and spatial phenomenon.
김 크리스틴 선의 대규모 개인전 《Christine Sun Kim: All Day All Night》가 미니애폴리스 워커 아트 센터에서 2026년 3월 28일부터 8월 30일까지 열린다. 2025년 겨울 휘트니 미술관에서 처음 선보인 이후, 워커 아트 센터와 공동 기획으로 이어진 작가의 첫 주요 미술관 서베이 전시로, 2011년부터 2026년까지 제작된 100여 점의 작업을 통해 그의 작업 세계를 폭넓게 조망한다.
