Tomás Saraceno collaboration with global group BTS!
#CONNECT_BTS is a global project to connect five cities and twenty-two artist, each of whom contributes their unique philoshphy and imagination to it.
On January 28th, 2020, from the salt lakes of Salinas Grandes, Jujuy, the performance of "Fly with Aerocene Pacha" attempts to achieve something wholly unprecedented in human history: to move free on air, lifted only by the sun and the energies of the atmosphere, without the use of any fossil fuels, lithium batteries, solar panels, helium or other rare gases.

토마스 사라세노가 BTS와 협업한다. 'CONNECT, BTS'는 BTS가 자신만의 철학과 상상력을 펼치는 세계 5개 도시의 예술가 22인을 대륙을 넘어 '연결'하는 기념비적 프로젝트다.
토마스 사라세노는 1월 28일 아르헨티나 살리나스 그란데스에 있는 소금 호수에서 <에어로센 파차와 함께 날다> 퍼포먼스를 펼친다. '에어로센'은 사라세노가 2015년에 설립한 커뮤니티 프로젝트. ‘경계로부터의 자유, 화석 연료부터의 자유’라는 모토에서 잘 드러나듯, 화석 연료나 관련 장치 없이 하늘을 나는 기구를, 나아가 ‘클라우드 시티’와 같은 거주지를 만들기 위해 조직됐다. 작가는 화석연료를 사용하지 않고 풍선 내부와 외부의 온도 차, 공기와 태양열, 바람으로 공중에 부양하는 장치를 만들기 위해, 지난 10여 년 동안 매사추세츠 공과대학, 막스 플랑크 연구소, 싱가포르 난양기술대학 등 저명한 과학 기관들과 함께 협력했다. 2019년 갤러리현대에서 열린 개인전에서도 이 프로젝트와 관련된 설치 작품을 선보여 화제를 모은 바 있다.
작가는 이번 BTS와의 협업을 통해, 화석 연료 없이 하늘을 나는 기구 비행의 고도, 거리, 지속시간에서 세계 신기록을 세우는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 작가는 이 프로젝트가 "국경을 가로질러, 에너지를 가로질러, 세대를 가로질러 사람들을 연결하는 방법"이라고 설명한다. ⠀
