Yeesookyung : Whisper Only to You⠀

Yeesookyung's "Whisper Only to You" is on view at Fondazione Donnaregina and Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Italy. Yeesookyung is a visual artist whose practice includes the use of different media, among which video-installation and painting, with a predilection for sculpture. The project of this double exhibition is divided into two complementary exhibition paths.

"Moonlight Crown (2018-ongoing) is a series of sculptures, exhibited in absolute preview, inspired by the words of American writer Isaac Bashevis Singer: “if the truth exists, it is intricate and hidden like a crown of feathers”. The basis of each of them consists of a crown that supports a densely decorated sphere, on which a cuspid element is placed. Ubiquitous symbols – such as angels, hands in prayer, dragons – are incorporated: decontextualized sacred emblems, arranged here in order to construct an organic structure and reveal the hidden links between past and present, myth and history." ⠀⠀

이수경의 개인전 <Whisper Only to You>가 이탈리아 나폴리에 있는 돈나레지나현대미술관과 카포디몬테미술관에서 동시에 개최되었다. 이 전시에는 잘 알려진 <번역된 도자기> 연작을 비롯, 어둠 속에 놓인 경면주사로 그린 드로잉을 비추는 손전등이 리드미컬하게 움직이는 영상에 작가의 속삭이는 목소리를 중첩해 신비로운 분위기가 감도는 비디오 신작 <Whisper Only to You>, 바리 드로잉에 기반해 제작한 3D 렌더링 조각 <바리>, 천사, 기도하는 손, 용 등 신성함과 역사나 신화를 상징하는 기호를 탈맥락화해 하나로 결합한 조각 연작 <Moonlight Crown> 등을 선보였다.
