Christine Sun Kim 김 크리스틴 선: VOGUE

Christine Sun Kim has participated in a cover art project celebrating Vogue Korea's 30th anniversary. For the project, artists from Korea and abroad were invited to select and reimagine a cover from Vogue Korea's archive, with Kim presenting Loud Pasts (2026).

Kim reinterprets the musical notations p (piano) and f (forte), traditionally indicating soft and loud dynamics, as “past” and “future.” Amid the continuing global rise of Hallyu, Loud Pasts visualizes how not only the country’s past, but our own pasts, are becoming increasingly resonant. In addition, Christine Sun Kim has been selected as the second artist for the MMCA×LG OLED Series, jointly organized by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) and LG Electronics. Her solo exhibition at Gallery Hyundai beginning August 26.

김 크리스틴 선이 〈보그 코리아〉 창간 30주년을 기념하는 커버 아트 프로젝트에 참여했다. 국내외 아티스트가 그간 〈보그 코리아〉의 커버 중 하나를 선택하여 재창조하는 이번 프로젝트에서 김 크리스틴 선은 〈Loud Pasts〉 (2026)를 선보였다.

김 크리스틴 선은 악보에서 여리게 연주하라는 뜻의 p(piano)와 세게 연주하라는 뜻의 f(forte)를 각각 ‘과거(past)’와 ‘미래(future)’로 재해석한다. 이를 바탕으로 〈Loud Pasts〉는 거대한 한류의 흐름 속에서 한국의 과거뿐 아니라 우리의 과거가 점점 더 큰 울림을 만들어내는 모습을 시각화한다. 작품은 〈보그 코리아〉 온라인에서 만나볼 수 있다.

한편, 김 크리스틴 선은 오는 7월 31일부터 11월 29일까지 국립현대미술관 서울에서 LG 전자와 공공으로 진행하는 ‘MMCA×LG OLED 시리즈’의 두 번째 작가로 선정되어 개인전 《MMCA×LG OLED 시리즈 2026: 김 크리스틴 선 완고한 바위, 무모한 싸움들》을 개최한다. 또한, 갤러리현대에서 8월 26일부터 개인전을 선보일 예정이다.
