Gallery Hyundai is pleased to present MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joon’s large-scale, site-specific installation Mobile Agora (2012–ongoing) at Booth P3 as a special artist project for Frieze Seoul 2026. Composed of recycled plastic chairs arranged, Mobile Agora creates a space for viewers to sit face-to-face and engage in conversation. More than a place of rest, this space functions as a sculptural apparatus that reinterprets the agora—the public forum of antiquity—through a contemporary lens. Plastic, the primary material of the work, is a paradoxical medium; it represents the convenience of modern society while simultaneously symbolizing the climate crisis and environmental degradation. The structural configuration of these discarded chairs naturally prompts social discourse on the environmental challenges we face. Furthermore, the varying colors and shapes serve as a metaphor for a community that thrives on coexistence, respecting mutual difference and diversity. Within this space, participants share the pressing agendas of our time, such as plastic pollution, the climate crisis, and sustainable measures for future generations. Situated at the intersection of sculptural experimentation and social engagement, Mobile Agora demonstrates how art can open up new modes of solidarity and public discourse.

갤러리현대는 프리즈 서울 2026의 특별 아티스트 프로젝트로 ‘부스 P3’에서 문경원 & 전준의 대형 장소특정적 설치작품 〈모바일 아고라〉(2022–현재)를 선보인다. 재활용 플라스틱 의자를 원형으로 배치해 관객이 서로 마주 앉아 대화를 나누도록 구성한 〈모바일 아고라〉는 고대 도시의 공론장이었던 ‘아고라’를 오늘날의 사회적·환경적 맥락에서 새롭게 해석한 참여형 설치이다. 현대사회의 편리함을 상징하는 동시에 환경오염과 기후 위기의 징후이기도 한 플라스틱을 주요 재료로 삼아, 버려진 사물이 공동의 공간을 형성하는 과정 자체를 하나의 조형적·사회적 제안으로 전환한다. 서로 다른 색과 형태의 의자들이 어우러진 풍경은 서로의 차이와 다양성이 공존하는 공동체를 은유하며, 관객의 참여를 통해 작품은 고정된 조각에서 살아 있는 대화의 장으로 확장된다. ​조형적 실험과 사회적 참여를 지속적으로 교차시켜 온 문경원 & 전준은 〈모바일 아고라〉를 통해 기후 위기와 지속가능성, 공동체의 미래라는 동시대의 긴급한 의제를 공유하는 장소를 마련하고, 예술이 새로운 형태의 연대와 공론장을 어떻게 생성할 수 있는지를 질문한다.
