Gallery Hyundai is pleased to present Choi Minhwa’s solo booth at the inaugural edition of Hive Art Fair. In Booth A06, the gallery features over ten major works from his iconic Pink series (1989–1999), highlighting the distinctive and accomplished figurative practice of Choi, who is widely recognized as a leading figure of Minjung Art (People’s Art) in the history of Korean contemporary art. Moving beyond the art-historical category of Minjung art, the presentation offers a more nuanced perspective on his artistic practice, which has long borne witness to the textures of reality and everyday life through painting. Through this focused presentation of his enduring work, Gallery Hyundai seeks to evoke deeper reflections on modern Korean society and human existence, while reaffirming the narrative power of figurative painting.

갤러리현대는 제1회 하이브 아트페어에 참여하며 최민화 작가의 솔로 부스를 선보인다. ‘부스 A06’은 그의 대표적 연작인 〈분홍〉(1989–1999)의 주요작 10여 점을 선별하여, 한국 현대미술사에서 민중미술을 대표하는 작가로 알려진 최민화의 독자적이고 뛰어난 구상적 회화의 면모를 집중적으로 소개한다. 나아가 그의 작업을 ‘민중미술’이라는 미술사적 범주에 한정하지 않고, 현실과 삶의 결을 화면을 통해 증언해 온 회화 세계로서 보다 입체적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 시대를 관통하는 그의 작업을 통해 한국 사회의 근대성과 인간 존재에 대한 깊은 통찰, 그리고 구상회화가 지닌 서사적 힘을 다시금 환기하고자 한다.
