Gallery Hyundai is pleased to present seven major figures of Korean modern and contemporary art at Booth G13 in the Galleries sector of Art Basel in Basel 2026. The presentation brings together works by Seundja Rhee (1918–2009), a pioneering first-generation Korean abstract painter; Chung Sang-Hwa (1932–2026), a master of Korean abstract painting; Lee Kun-Yong (b. 1942) and Lee Kang So (b. 1943), leading figures in Korean experimental art; and Shin Sung Hy (1948–2009), Kim Bohie (b. 1952), and Minjung Kim (b. 1962), whose singular practices have unfolded within an international context. Spanning approximately six decades, the presentation traces the development of Korean abstraction and experimental art through artists who grounded their practices in Korean traditions while engaging with Western artistic influences. Through their works, the booth highlights diverse visual languages that move between tradition and experimentation, materiality and action, structure and contemplation.

갤러리현대는 ‘아트바젤 바젤 2026’ 갤러리즈 섹터의 ‘부스 G13’에서 한국 현대미술을 대표하는 작가 7인을 선보인다. 이번 프레젠테이션은 한국 추상미술의 1세대를 대표하는 이성자(1918–2009)를 시작으로 추상회화의 거장 정상화(1932–2026), 실험미술의 거장 이건용(1942년생)과 이강소(1943년생), 독창적인 작업 세계로 세계 미술계에서 활동을 펼치는 신성희(1948–2009), 김보희(1952년생), 김민정(1962년생)의 작품을 선보인다. 약 60여 년에 걸친 한국 추상미술의 흐름과 한국 실험미술, 나아가 한국의 뿌리를 간직한 채 서양의 문화에 영향을 받은 작가들의 작업을 통해 전통과 실험, 물질과 행위, 구조와 사유 사이를 넘나드는 다양한 조형적 언어를 살펴본다.
