Tomás Saraceno

Tomás Saraceno was born in Tucumán, Argentina, in 1973. He studied architecture in Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and continued his studies in Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de la Nación Ernesto de la Cárcova, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Städelschule, Frankfurt, Germany, and IUAV (Venice, Italy). He participated in the International Space Studies Program, NASA Center at Ames (Silicon Valley), and collaborated with world-leading researchers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, Max Planck Institute, Munich, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Natural History Museum, London.

Saraceno has had many solo exhibitions in major art institutions including Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2018), Asia Culture Center, Gwangju (2017), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco (2016), K21 Ständehaus, Düsseldorf (2013), Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2012) and Hamburger Bahnhof, Hamburg (2011). His works are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, MMK Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt, among others.

토마스 사라세노는 1973년 아르헨티나 투쿠만에서 출생했다. 부에노스아이레스 대학에서 건축을 전공했고, 부에노스아이레스 국립예술학교와 프랑크푸르트 슈테델슐레(Städelschule), 베니스 건축대학교(IAUV)에서 수학했다. 이후, 2009년 나사센터(NASA Center Ames Research Center)의 국제 스페이스 연구 프로그램(The International Space Studies Program)에 참여했으며, 매사추세츠공과대학교(MIT), 막스 플랑크 연구소(Max Planck Institute), 싱가포르 난양기술대학교, 런던 자연사박물관과 같은 세계적인 과학기관들과 협업하며 작업을 전개해 왔다. 사라세노는 파리 팔레드도쿄(2018), 광주 국립아시아문화전당(2017), 샌프란시스코 현대미술관(2016), 뒤셀도르프 K21 슈텐데하우스(2013), 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄미술관(2012), 베를린 함부르거반호프현대미술관(2011)등 전 세계 유수 예술기관에서 개인전을 열었다. 뉴욕 현대미술관, 워커아트센터, 샌프란시스코 현대미술관, 프랑크푸르트 현대미술관 등 세계적인 주요 기관에 소장되어 있다.
