MOON Kyungwon

문경원은 1969년생으로, 서울을 기반으로 활동하며 다양한 매체를 활용한 작업을 해 왔다. 문경원은 야마구치 미디어아트센터, 야 마구치(2015, 2014); 갤러리현대, 서울(2010); 토탈미술관, 서울(2008); 성곡미술관, 서울(2007); 금호미술관, 서울(2002) 등에 서 개인전을 개최했다. 또한 도큐멘타13, 카셀(2012)를 계기로 전준호 작가와 듀오로 활동하며 제도 및 경제적 모순, 역사적 갈등, 기후 변화와 같은 인류가 직면한 위기와 급변하는 세상 속에서 예술의 기능과 역할을 탐구하는 작업을 선보여 왔다. 최근 현대 모 터스튜디오 베이징, 베이징(2024); 가나자와 21세기미술관, 가나자와(2022); 아트선재센터, 서울(2022); 국립현대미술관, 서울 (2021), 테이트리버풀, 리버풀(2018), 제56회 베니스비엔날레 한국관, 베니스(2015); 미그로스현대미술관, 취리히(2015); 시카고 아트인스티튜트(2013), 시카고 등에서 다수의 개인전을 개최했다. 또한, 제체시온, 빈(2024); 호암미술관, 용인(2023), 국립현대 미술관, 서울(2022, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2012); 리움미술관, 서울(2022, 2014); 광주비엔날레, 광주(2021, 2012); 서울도시건축비 엔날레, 서울(2021); 서울시립미술관, 서울(2020); 부산현대미술관, 부산(2020), 부산시립미술관, 부산(2020, 2017, 2016); 타이 베이비엔날레, 타이베이(2018); 카스텔로리볼리, 토리노(2017); 시드니현대미술관, 시드니(2016); 카를스루에예술매체센터, 카를스 루에(2015); 로마국립현대미술관, 로마(2014); 싱가포르비엔날레, 싱가포르(2013) 등을 포함한 주요 비엔날레 및 기획전을 통해 세 계적으로 소개되었다. 문경원은 전준호 작가와 함께 2024년 김세중조각상, 베이징에 위치한 UCCA가 수여하는 2013년 제1회 멀티튜드 아트 프라이즈, 국립현대미술관과 SBS문화재단이 공동 주최하여 수여하는 제1회 2012년 올해의 작가상을 수상했으며, 2012년 광주비엔날레 대상 인 ‘눈 예술상’을 수상한 바 있다. 문경원 작가의 작품은 테이트모던, 런던; 가나자와 21세기미술관, 가나자와; 미그로스현대미술관, 취리히; 후 쿠오카아시아미술관, 후 쿠오카; 몬테비데오, 로테르담; 국립대만미술관, 타이중; 국립현대미술관, 서울; 서울시립미술관, 서울; 부산시립미술관, 부산; 부산현대미술관, 부산; 대전시립미술관, 대전; 울산시립미술관, 울산; 경기도미술관, 안산; 리움미술관, 서울; SBS문화재단, 서울; CJ문화재단, 서울; 아모레퍼시픽미술관, 서울 등 유수 기관 및 재단에 소장되어 있다.Born in 1969, Moon Kyungwon is based in Seoul and works across various media. She has held solo exhibitions at theYamaguchi Center for Arts and Media, Yamaguchi (2015, 2014); Gallery Hyundai, Seoul (2010); Total Museum, Seoul (2008); Sungkok Art Museum, Seoul (2007); and Kumho Museum of Art, Seoul (2002). In addition, she has worked as a duo with Jeon Joonho for the occasion of dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel (2012), where she investigated the function and capacity of art within a rapidly transforming world of economic contradictions, historical conflicts, and climate change. Recently, she has held numerous exhibitions including at Hyundai Motorstudio, Beijing (2024); 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2022); Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2022); MMCA, Seoul (2021); Tate Liverpool, Liverpool (2018); Korean Pavillion at the 56th Biennale di Venezia, Venice (2015); Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich; and the School of Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago (2013). Alongside Jeon Joonho, Moon Kyungwon received the 38th Kim Se-Choong Sculpture Award (2024), the 1st Multitude Art Prize at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing (2013), the 1st Korea Artist Prize, co-organized by the National Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art, Korea and SBS Foundation (2012), and the Grand Prize, Noon Award, at the Gwangju Biennale (2012).
